In an attempt to generate interest in Army Family Team Building courses, we created a game of collecting content block cards. Each icon in the Army Family Tree represented a different block of training and participants would collect cards from each session. Once a milestone was reached, the participant received recognition for having completed the required content blocks. AFTB reported positive response to the campaign, which meant more members of the Fort Hood family received much-needed training and information about Army life. The content blocks program was then presented at the national level as a way to make training easily accessible to busy Army spouses and other eligible participants.

AFTB Newsletter
The Army Family Team Building office distributes a bi-monthly in-house newsletter, highlighting volunteers and updating stakeholders on program progress. The main purpose of my involvement in this project was to train my team members on using Microsoft Publisher. The results were astounding!
AFAP Survey Campaign
Army Family Action Plan is a program funded by the Department of the United States Army with the intent of implementing cost-saving and quality of life-enhancing ideas. Every year, each Army installation encourages residents to submit useful and relevant ideas to improve Army life in and around their communities. In 2011, I created a series of coordinated posters and flyers, each with a specific target audience and execution. One design was created for high-traffic facilities with no wait-time, while another was created specifically for waiting rooms. And one design was easily translated for online use. The design package gave the program the flexibility to advertise in a variety of locations, to different demographics while having a cohesive message. The biggest challenge of the project was to convey the purpose of AFAP quickly and effectively in order to generate response. For the 2011 survey season, AFAP notes a significant increase in participation.
Guahan Junior Golf Association
The creation of a new organization requires identity management from the earliest stages of operation. Once the name of the association was decided upon, and the mission statement published, I was able to refine logo creation to reflect directives as prescribed in organizational bylaws. The logo presents a silhouette of a youth golfer. As the child swings his or her club, you see the positive shape of the golf ball coming toward you. The negative shape between the golf ball features and the golfer creates the outline of the island of Guam. To finish the logo, the entire graphic is encircled with the official name of the organization.
For the website, I went with a modern look with a large photographic background. I was tempted to go with a more animated and colorful design, considering the group is for younger golfers. However, after reviewing other youth golf organizations, I realized that these clients were mature and sophisticated enough to appreciate this representation on the Internet. Parents are also involved in this organization, as are sponsors from different business sectors. To save on costs for the organization, I customized a CMS template skeleton, which will also allow for future growth of the web site into an online community for youth golfers on Guam. The large photograph background will randomly feature images from group events, while keeping the information organized and centrally-located on the web pages.
Guam Travel Poster
Illustration for a friend’s housewarming, inspired by vintage travel posters. If you look closely, you’ll see a familiar logo on the aircraft tail.
Seasonal Meal-Planning Calendar
With the new year came new goals, to include eating healthy, locally-grown produce. I created this calendar to help keep me on track. It has enough space for meal-planning on each day, notes along the sidebar, and even a “look ahead” block for the following month.

Christmas Cards 2010
We decided to make our Christmas cards again this year, incorporating western fonts and drawings to express our appreciation for our new home on the Western range. We then attached a laser-cut rustic ornament as a gift to our Christmas card recipients. Happy Holidays from Texas, y’all!
Space Cadet Blog Template
I created this layout for my personal blog, originally, but decided to in a different direction. I still really like what I’ve done with the layout and plan on using for a blogging client in the near future. The design also inspired my semi-finalist entry into the recent Etsy NASA contest, a poster featuring the unforgettable words of Shuttle 1 Commander John W. Young.
Gulf Coast Relief Notecards
Saddened by what I saw during a visit to the Gulf Coast, I decided to create items for sale in my Etsy stores with the sole purpose of donating proceeds to Gulf Coast cleanup. These notecards feature Edwardian script sealife and motifs and complementary address labels.
