Heart My City

With a 2-hour turn-around time, this Internet startup needed a landing page fast. Using stock images, I recreated Honolulu skyline for the Heart My City presentation at Startup Weekend Honolulu 2011. The logo I created is simple, smart and easily customizable for the range of social media applications, using negative space to make a lasting impression.

Guahan Junior Golf Association

The creation of a new organization requires identity management from the earliest stages of operation. Once the name of the association was decided upon, and the mission statement published, I was able to refine logo creation to reflect directives as prescribed in organizational bylaws. The logo presents a silhouette of a youth golfer. As the child swings his or her club, you see the positive shape of the golf ball coming toward you. The negative shape between the golf ball features and the golfer creates the outline of the island of Guam. To finish the logo, the entire graphic is encircled with the official name of the organization.

For the website, I went with a modern look with a large photographic background. I was tempted to go with a more animated and colorful design, considering the group is for younger golfers. However, after reviewing other youth golf organizations, I realized that these clients were mature and sophisticated enough to appreciate this representation on the Internet. Parents are also involved in this organization, as are sponsors from different business sectors. To save on costs for the organization, I customized a CMS template skeleton, which will also allow for future growth of the web site into an online community for youth golfers on Guam. The large photograph background will randomly feature images from group events, while keeping the information organized and centrally-located on the web pages.

Oh Sue Sweet Logo and Website

Branding, logo creation, and website development for a California-based, award-winning cupcake baker. The logo swirls replicate the swirling frosting found on top of most cupcakes. The website is fun and festive, reflecting the outgoing personality of the baker, Sue Ann Molina.

Space Cadet Blog Template

I created this layout for my personal blog, originally, but decided to in a different direction. I still really like what I’ve done with the layout and plan on using for a blogging client in the near future. The design also inspired my semi-finalist entry into the recent Etsy NASA contest, a poster featuring the unforgettable words of Shuttle 1 Commander John W. Young.

Etsy Store Designs

As my exposure on Etsy grew, I realized I would have to customize the look of my Etsy stores. Now, my Etsy stores have professional looking banners and icons. Each store features a different look. The designs give the individual stores unique identities which reflect the products available.

St. James’ Mount Vernon

This website was created for our favorite church in Virginia, St. James’ Mount Vernon. The church wanted to upgrade from their basic HTML website to something more modern looking. They also wanted the website to feature newer technologies, such as an animated header image, RSS feeds, embedded photo albums, and their Google calendar.

I installed WordPress and provided training for basic functions within the content management system.

The website also features a customized child templates, for special events and organizations.

Morgan Wedding Website

This is another one of my customization jobs. I took a basic template and transformed it into a WordPress theme for our wedding website. The front page highlighted featured information, while the remaining pages organized event information into legible, logical sections. A guestbook was also available, as well as a contact form. Extra information was embedded, such as maps and photo albums, to keep the viewer from having to visit third-party website. This maximized time spent on the website.

Worton Painting

Worton Painting was a new small business in the Hampton Roads area. The client had signed up for a domain name and some web hosting space, but didn’t know how to create a web presence. I offered the client an economical and efficient solution in the form of a customized template. The client and I worked together to choose a foundation on which to build a brand. While customization is not based on a original design, it offers quick turn around and expedited Internet advertising to clients that would otherwise be intimidated or overwhelmed by big design houses. Once the template was chosen, this client had his inexpensive website in 8 hours, complete with SEO and Abode Flash masthead.
